Special Events The National Uterine Fibroids Foundation is actively seeking out and participating in a wide range of events for and on behalf of women with uterine fibroids. Some of these events include teaming up with researchers to validate and give input to proposed research protocols, fundraising for fibroids awareness, and hosting public educational campaigns. Opening Doors New for 2003, Opening Doors is a series of regional events planned and carried out by volunteers. The first Opening Doors is scheduled for Monterey, California, January 24-26, 2003. Billed as a Fibroid Empowerment and Wine Tour Celebration, this event will allow women who've experienced uterine fibroids the opportunity to come together for a getaway weekend of sharing, relaxation, and fun. In addition, the weekend's agenda includes dinner presentations covering fibroid treatment alternatives by Dr. Paul Indman, Dr. William Parker, and Dr. Mahmood Razavi. For registration information, click here. If you don't happen to live in California, never fear! More Opening Doors events are in the works in a variety of regions across the United States. If you're interested in volunteering to ensure an Opening Doors event comes to YOUR region of the U.S., send us an email! The Key As a nonprofit organization still in its early years of development, the National Uterine Fibroids Foundation welcomes and supports every opportunity for fundraising that will help this organization grow. The Key, a special fundraising event held in Chicago, IL in 2002, was the first organized fundraising event ever held in the United States (in its entire history!) solely to benefit public education for uterine fibroids. A very special group of women teamed together to make it happen and you can read about it here. Home
